belt for Yale Keymaster

Postby Capt_Tom » 7 Mar 2013 8:58

I bought an old Yale Keymaster, and need to change the belt. It is a round type profile, not a v-belt. It's about 1/4" thick and squeezed together it measures 7-1/2" end to end. Does anyone on here know of a source? Does anyone on here have a Foley-Bellsaw 2000 machine. and is that belt close to this one?

Thanks

Tom

I've ran into this before too on a different duplicator. I ended up going to a tractor supply store and buying a decent sized, thick O-ring. Works pretty well in my case but they do crack and break after some time so you'll need to buy a few if you go this route. Also if you are really in a pinch you can use a bunch of rubber bands but that gets a little too "shade tree" for me.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

That's funny! I had thought about Grainger.... but not Tractor supply. Thanks

You might also check McMaster-Carr.

Some sewing machines also use round belts

That was the first place that I tried... but the guy said the size was different. Thanks.

Just bought a 10" round belt from http://www.sewingpartsonline.com.
One of these might work as well: http://www.blueridgeshoponline.com/prod ... egoryId=32
Call for the size.

I went to the local welding/machine shop for some titanium drill bits. They also do hydraulic repair. I took the belt and matched it to an o-ring. I am good. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Excellent. That has to be one big o-ring though! :D

I take it you have never seen a large diameter hydraulic cylinder ripped down == I have personally seen o-rings and rubber gaskets which you could wear around your neck with no problems like those flower-things they give the tourists in Hawaii...
