rekeying kit and security pins...where to buy?

Postby yungning » 10 Oct 2004 15:03

i got 3 new Schlage deadbolt for free, and i want to install them on the house i am gonna buy. i want to rekey them to use the same key or even put mushroom or spool pins on them.

anyone know where i can buy the key pins for re-keying and where i can find those security drive pins?

actually, i saw people sell the Schlage re-keying kit on eBay, but the quanity is too many....i only need pins for my 3 deadbolts, and looks like no one sell security pins there...any idea where i can find some?

besides, can i use the Schlage re-key kit on Kwikset's locks?

thanks.

Lockpicks.com has 'Change-a-lock' repinning kits for around $10-12.
My experience has been that pins are mostly interchangeable, though not always. I recall seeing a long thread on here about which brands use which sizes.

Go visit your local ace hardware store. Most of them will let you buy pins from their pinnings kits.
