Curtis key blanks

I used to see many "Curtis" keyblanks. We have one for our toyota. However, the car is over fifteen years old, so I'm sure the blank was duplicated some time ago.

Does anyone know if these blanks are still made/available? As I said they seem quite rare.

Not sure if that brand is still being made, but I have some and see them around now and again, especially on ebay. What blank number are you looking for?

No longer made. Curtis used to make blanks and clippers for automotive work plus regular common key blanks.

Not sure why anyone would look specifically for a Curtis blank though.

Yep, another relic of the past. We have quite a few old Curtis blanks at the hardware store. They were based here in Cleveland along with Cole.
Barnes Distribution still sells the Curtis key machines and clippers.

My dad's duplicate key for our 1997, Toyota is on a Curtis Blank. That is one reason I am asking since the car is only 16 years old they can't have been gone that long. Does anyone know when they went out of business?

I ordered keys from them a couple of years ago.

They made some precuts that were only available from them and the OEM.

That logic doesn't follow. I have Curtis blanks still hanging around and could cut one tomorrow, but that doesn't mean they were in business yesterday.

I apologize if my tone came across as demanding or disrespectful in any way.

Perhaps I should have stated that antique/vintage hardware as well as hard to find key blanks are an interest of mine. Sure modern locks are interesting, but they certainly do not have to ornate artistic design of some of the products of yesteryear. I find it fascinating to hear from a locksmith who remembers some of the by-gone brands of the past.

Curtis used to be big in the hotel/lodging industry in offering those neuter bow/large bow custom coined keyblanks formerly used in many hotels...

When the hotel industry began migrating en masse to electronic based locking systems Curtis's niche market dried up and the companies remaining viable products were purchased by other businesses that still produce them...
