Modified "Hybrid" Locks

I enjoy modifying locks... but not really creating new designs (like in the Open Source lock forum) mostly putting High Security cores in Low Security locks... (please dont talk about picking high security locks in this thread)

I started simple like making dimple locks out of regular locks

but then I got a bit more complex when I put a kaba Micro in a 5200 padlock body:






a little later I put a bell 6 slider in a 5200...
but what I really wanted to show off was my newest creation

What is it?

its a GM ignition lock

oh yeah... its a fichet
I had to modify the column housing to get it to fit...

I might not have a dinger when im done... but itll be worth it...

(space reserved for image of lock installed in my car)

has anyone else made any crazy hybrid locks?

Kaba Micro is sweet, but the Fichet, that's just awesome!

Interesting experimenting, especially as I assume you do not have machine tools such as a lathe or mill.

lol I sold most of my collection but have been saving this lock for this specific project (ive had it for years waiting for me to get a spare ignition switch to cut up)

no lol, the only power tool I have was a dremmil... but JB weld is the ultimate oops eraser... a little JB weld and 24 hours later you can rebuild stuff you accidentaly cut off lol

Great work! I love that Kaba Micro.

I have a big S&G military padlock with a Kwikset key cylinder in it. Looks neat hanging on our gate.

Also put a GM, 6-wafer sidebar cylinder in an American padlock. Now the ignition key also works the spare tire chain.

I installed it in my car today.. I will post a pic when the sun is up (and i find a camera) it works like a charm... Im considering doing something similar with a W-LOK but i dont know what car to install it on...
