Schlage deadbolt

Hi everybody, I know it's pretty vague but I'm wondering if anyone can help identify this lock http://m1329.photobucket.com/albumview/ ... 0&newest=1 it feels like it has 6 or more pins in it that's all I know about it, it's in my pops door and although he said I could try to pick it I'd rather buy one for myself than mess up his since it secures his back door.

to know exactly how many pins it has, look at the key and count the bittings, or insert a half-diamond upside down (the diamond part facing away of the pins, so you have only the flat side in contact with them), press agains the pins, slowly remove the pick and count the clicks.

I don't know anything about schlage, unfortunatly

Most residential Schlage locks have 5 pins, while commercial usually have 6, sometimes 7 on an IC.most of the newer ones have at least some, if not almost fully spooled driver pins.

Just to add to GWiens about IC, the 7th pin on a Schlage LFIC is for the control key.

That's the schlage B-300 series deadbolt and also part of what is left of Master door div./Dexter lock companies tooling. After buying out Dexter, Master started breathing down schlage's neck one day when they introduced their own deadbolt with an sc-1 keyway. After letting Master door hdwr division to grow for a little while, they bought them out and promptly closed them down. If you look around you'll see that Master has again started up selling door hardware again, idk which company really owns the new company. Ingersoll Rand which did own schlage recently changed their name to Allegion, so beware. Same crummy company still looking to cheapen their products as black & decker does to weiser, baldwin, kwikset and lots of other companies.
