, Varjeal is turning into a Curmudgeon.

The pick gun is not the simplest thing to use, but it's not rocket science either.

It takes some understanding of locks, and some practice.

You can't use it on all locks for a variety of reasons. It won't work on wafer locks without destroying them if at all. The physics are different.

Certain european locks simply don't allow the use of the pick gun as the needle doesn't have enough movement due to the design of the keyway.

Buying a pick gun is a good way to get sloppy. If you want to learn to pick locks, stick with manual tools. Only use guns or other aids when there is no other way to pick the lock.

Sounds like a budding young criminal to be! Seriously, picking locks one pin at a time is not only educational, but is also a lot more fun than a pick gun.

Due to the fact most euro cylinders are upside down you find that the door handle can get in the way with a manual pickgun. When you say european locks what exactly do you mean ? It wont do a chubb if thats what your thinking or any other mortice lock for that matter.

By european lock, probably means flat keys with dimples.
They are extremely common in Europe.

And it's in the US that they put the locks upside down :D

And a bit offtopic I have found a few dimples (door locks) here in Finland :!: Anyone who knows something about finnish door locks knows that their like 99% Abloys  I dont remember the manufacturer of the locks but I will go check it asap...

The answer to the question on pickguns and dimple locks is yes in one of the other threads the euro section i think, ken one of the guys who trained me has just been to germany to try out the multi pick electro pick and they were opening dimple locks with it.

I've owned a lockaid gun for several years. It is a great piece of gear in that it is solidly built and reliable. However I just can't get the thing to work. It consistenly knocks the pins past the sheer line and is not any quiker than a manual pick in skilled hands. I suggest you get yourself a (much cheaper) manual set and start practicing.
