modern high security locks

I just recieved Steven Hampton's book "modern high-security locks" as of 10/12/04. I haven't got a chance to read it yet but was intrested if anyone has read that book and has any input on the quality of the information in it. Please let me know.

I've read it.

The first thing that I noticed that could be good or bad depending on what you want the book - (it bugged me) was the writing style. I felt strangely like I was reading someone's diary - it was weird but in the same way, very practical. I didn't learn anything new though - everything in there I had already picked up from this forum - so it didn't help me very much.

I guess I would have liked to have seen a bit more of other people's opinions on the same locks - rather than "steve hampton's meander through his High security lock collection" I would have prefered to see something more worthy of the title. the closest I thought it came was "High security locks and how steve hampton opens them."

having said that - if you didn't have this site and didn't have time to do some research and quickly wanted to know about the various types of high sec locks, then it's a great book to read. also - some people would actually really appreciate the first person kind of approach.

I have read it and did find it very interesting. I think the writting style was my kind of style.
The information in the book might be available elsewhere (here for example), but if you do not have access then I wouldn't know where to get so much info in one go.

The illustrations are nice (although some come from manufacturer's drawings).

I think it is a nice book to have as a compilation of high security locks. These locks are not covered in other lock picking books I have (I have not seen the visual guide to lock picking). If you follow the creed that the info is also available here or elsewhere then you wouldn't get any books at all...

I think you'll enjoy it like I did
(btw, I can't pick those locks, so this one is _really_ just for information as far as I am concerned).
