ABUS Eighty Three FAIL!!!!!

Hey Everyone,

Well I havnt picked in a while so today I pulled out my trusty pick set and tried to pick one of the abus padlocks that ive got that I used to be able to pick real quick and guess what......... FAIL!!!!!!! after 5 minutes still nothing happening haha.
I guess lock picking really is a perishable skill set lol..
Ohh well coffee time and then ill give it another crack.

It can be a tricky lock. I've found that compared to the Schlage spools, the spools in the 83/45 are nastier and don't respond as well to counterrotation. I've found that light tension is key. Also, when dealing with the counterrotation on this particular lock it pays to have a tensioning tool that fits snugly into the keyway and doesn't wobble. I've found that for 83/45s that utilize a Schalge C keyway that my Peterson Pry Bar (0.050") works very well.

And of course practice is a must when it comes to lock picking.

I agree that a tension wrench that fits snuggly and does not wobble makes the job a heck of a lot easier
I finally got it after 2 more attempts. It would seem that I was using a little too much tension.
Nothing like the sound of victory "CLICK!"
