Wilson Bohannan padlocks-whats the keyway?

I know this is a bit of a necro post, but since many of the players are still on the site, will go ahead.

Now have three of these WB padlocks, from atticRR. On all three, I have been picking on them for a while. It would easily go into a false set, but no further. Finally today, I said the heck with it and once it went into false set, I just decided to quadrupled the tension on the wrench. But I never got that much tension. The the plug turned. It felt as if the plug was tight in the lock. Testing the other two, they responded the same way. Very easy to set the pins, difficult to turn the plug.

So is this a normal feel for the Wilson Bohannan locks?

you got em all open then? I only got 2 open and it took me a long time to get the first one.

Recently I got another WB with a crazy 8" shackle, with a key, and after i read your post i checked the plug tension needed and it seems like i have to twist it pretty hard to overcome the spring. ive also heard that the tolerances are pretty tight on these locks so in combination with the spring it was a difficult pick for me.

It did not take a lot of tension to pick it, just once it went into what I originally thought was a false set under normal tension, it took a lot of tension to turn the plug.

BTW - thanks for the locks! I have blanks, and now need to make keys.

Does the other WB with the long shackle have an original key? The blanks I got to impression these are ILCO 1071 (W1).

yep, 2 factory keys. the only designation I see on them is an uppercase 'A'.
