"Fixing" the feather touch tension tool

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

"Fixing" the feather touch tension tool

Postby smokingman » 30 May 2013 23:52

Greetings, I have seen a few posts about the feather touch tension tool.
Most say it is too big to fit in any keyways and is useless.
I took mine and squeezed the tip in a vise just a tiny bit until it fit in
a kwikset deadbolt and it now has an ever so slight taper to it that makes it
wedge into several other brands and does a great job , very sensitive.
I could even go a little more with it to make it smaller but I like it where it is
and would not want to break the solder joint.
I suppose if you have no vise you could use vise grips if you are careful.
Don't throw yours away until you try this.

Are you talking about this feather tension tool: http://www.lockpickshop.com/A-2.html

Or the homebrew from this thread? viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19285

Or another? I've been considering getting/making a feather tensioner and am always interested to hear about people's experiences with them. =)

Good fix, though, glad it's more usable!

Yes.thats the one I have. It works great now, very good feedback.
It would not fit anything as it came from the manufacturer,
but a little sqeeze did the job.
