Lockpicking and Shooting Pool

Postby escher7 » 18 Jun 2013 19:44

I grew up in a pool hall, and while my eyes are no longer great I still shoot a serious game. I learned over the years that no matter how good you become, there are days when the balls just don't co-operate. It's hard to believe that on one day you can run 5 racks and the next you miss a straight shot to the corner.
Since my interest in lockpicking revived 6 months ago, I have found that the same principle applies. And not it's not just those funky 6 pin Sargents with the serrated pins and the 9-1-9-1 cuts that stop opening - even those Mickey Mouse 5 pin "comfort" locks hate you. When your game is off nothing works.
The Blackhawks played Boston last night in the 3rd game of the NHL finals, and they looked like a bunch of amateurs while getting their clocks cleaned. If the best hockey players in the world can have an off night I guess we all can deal with the God of klutz.
So if you are a beginner and that lock just won't open, remember that even the pros get that feeling of stupid once in a while.

I shoot pool as well, I find it help me loosen up tension in my hands. Naturally tense

I shoot pool sometimes, and I enjoy it, since it's one of those things that I can either do with a pen and paper (and annoy everyne else playing) and play perfectly, or 'wing it' and with a feel for the proper angles do reasonably well.

I think the mindset of the latter is similar to that I use when picking
If it works, it ain't wrong! -GWiens2001
