Raimundo's Bogota "How to" documents

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I was thinking, that with the support of the community, we can setup a museum section of those like Raimunod Bogota, Ju, and others who came out with some really nice stuff years ago that are still going strong now. We shouldn;t delete the history of these artistic and creative people.

Well what do you think digitalblue, and u Squelchtone, is there anyway in making something live this come alive and add more interested people to and their opinioms? I'll leave it to you guys to set uo the rules as to who can participate after a set date in time.

Just thinking aloud.....If u guys don't like well that okay to.

Peace!! zorro

I was looking over these and noted that it said a "small heating source" was needed, but I did not find an application for this in the instructions. Is the heating source for tempering the metal or helping to make the bend? Any answers will be most helpful; I am halfway considering getting the SEREpick distribution--not sure if titanium would be better than steel for any reason. Any help here would be most appreciated!

Titanium is lighter than steel and generally stronger. It's hypoallergenic and can't be magnetized.

He is very generous. And per a thread about the size of commercial picks and the sizes and ideas of making your own. I retract my previous complaint. Ps these picks rock.

First of all, I would like to thank Raimundo for starting this thread as it has become a great inspiration for me during a very low point in my life.
In early December of last year I suffered a stroke which paralyzed most of my left side. I have made good recovery with the exception of my left arm which is still less than 20% functional. I came across this thread which I had bookmarked a couple years ago and decided that I would sit down and try to make a set of these awesome picks that everyone is raving about. I didn't expect much and the result was not my finest work but certainly not my worst. Considering I pretty much only have the use of one arm and had to use a vise (which I never did in the past), I was amazed at what I could do and it gave me a ton of hope, happiness and inspiration that had been lacking for a long time.

Here is a picture:

I just read Kromedge's post. The picks look great, you obviously spent a lot of time polishing. Great work, good perseverance. Don't hold yourself back from anything man.

Raimundo. (Either In the how to. Or in a response on the forums) you mentioned a guide (vice jaw?) which you use. To accurately file each valley to the same depth.

if its not too much to ask. Any chance we could see a photo.

i've broken my third 3 point bogota. It got stuck (twisted) in a semiparacentric keyway. (Restricted) and in attempting removal it snapped. so i'll be making another one.

So i thought i'll build a guide rig. So i can be consistant in my making. And i wondered if i (we) could see what you use.
