Help me with a Schlage master key system (SC1)

Just called one of the local locksmith shops and they charge 5.50 to cut a key by code.
I know one of the other large companies charges 10 bucks or so.

What do you think a code key should cost?

In my area a code cut key costs $45 regardless of what kind of code or key it is to cut the key...

Additional charges apply to auto keys which need programming...

We couldn't charge that. Many of the locks that need code keys cutting cost less than that. We do $15 single sided and $25 double sided. The company I used to work for charged $10 per code key unless the blank was an expensive one then it was $15. We used to ship out a lot of code keys too, on the order of 10-20 a day.

The norm around here for code cut keys is $7.50 (AUD). These are big locksmiths and members of the MLAA.

But yes, some do charge like $25.

It depends on the area I guess.
