A little story about why lockies are important.

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

A little story about why lockies are important.

Enjoy...

Yesterday a new client wanted to lease his property with us. We asked that the building be re-keyed before they are leased out. We offer the service at a nominal charge... sometimes even free. So the owner decided to go to home depot to purchase new locks. The building is a quadplex and has only 4 entry locks sets. (One deadbolt, one knobset). He picked up 4 combo sets from home depot. The ones with an F line knob and a B60 (I think) deadbolt.... All from the same shelf pack.

You probabally know what happened next....

He comes in the next day to drop off the keys... all 4 units have the same key. =D

Has this happened to anyone before?

Not exactly, but it was similar.

My house key worked with my aunt's house. That lock was construction keyed. Although the CK ball had been dislodged, the remaining master pins allowed my house key to open it.

In college we were issued with lockers but you had to provide the padlocks for. There was a shop down the road which sold very cheap padlocks, which the whole year bought from. Every key could open at least 10 different padlocks. I think they had 2 or 3 pins in them! :D
