There are many many posts here already explaining what bumping is, please take the time to do some research and look it up. or go to Yahoo, Google, Wikipedia, I'm sure not all of those sites are blocked where you are.

......... lock bumping is a special technique to open a lock. You have to have a key that will insert into the lock you are trying to bump open, and then that key has to be cut to the deepest cuts for that model lock. Some bump keys are called 999 keys because the deepest cuts on that key is a 9 cut, such as on Schlage.

Once you have the key cut to the deepest possible cuts for that model lock, you insert the bump key into the lock, pull it out one tooth or one cut, and then bump the key into the lock using a bump hammer or screw driver handle or the sole of an old shoe.

The force of hitting the key into the lock makes the key hit the key pins and the key pins transfer the energy to the driver pins and the pins jump out of the way for a split second. During this very small time window, the person bumping the lock, as to try to turn the key a split second after they bump the key into the lock. If their timing and technique is good, then the lock will open because the driver pins will be temporarily pushed out of the way.

Lock bumping is where you bump the lock, like how one would bump a chair, or bump a baby, and the lock magically opens :D
