dimple locks

Hi, I would like some advise on dimple lock picks if possible, I have recently purchased a master dimple padlock and a multi lock cylinder to add to my collection.
I have opened a variety of different shapes and sizes of locks and padlocks but never attempted a dimple lock before.
I have looked on the internet at various types of picks and I am unsure which ones to buy.
I have seen the GOSO dimple pick set and I have also looked a the multi lock pick and decoder tool as well as various other makes and models.
Anyone any ideas of what type of pick is best to use on these kinds of locks.

Most of the time I use a slightly rounded half diamond pick made for dimple locks made by Femurat. I have a GOSO kit, but after using Femurat's pick, have not used anything else for dimple locks. You can try using a half diamond pick.

Let me start by saying that I love dimple locks; maybe my favorite flavor of lock! I think the special pick/decoder is not really ideal if you really want to learn to pick dimple locks. I got a set of SouthOrd dimple picks, but actually think Gordon's input is maybe more valuable than buying an expensive set of picks. The first dimple lock I picked was a Mul-T-Lock Interactive. I used a hook (Peterson Jem) to pick it. Now that I have a whole bunch of different picks to choose from all made specially for dimple locks, I primarily use only one of them all the time. The point I think I am trying to make is that it is more important to find one tool that works well for you and then practice a lot with it. Your best bet is to do like Gordon said and use a little half diamond, or a hook. Don't really need a big set of tools, just tons of practice! If you have the money to spend, I like my SO set and have also heard the GOSO picks are nice too. If you do use a half diamond, I have found that sanding the tip a bit thinner helps to get it under the pins better.

I think the others have summed it up well. I'm just getting into dimple locks myself and they are a lot of fun. I came down to the choice of GOSO/SO set or the Soubers and ended up with the GOSO just based on price. I have picked an MTL with a diamond but prefer to use the flag style pick i got in the dimple set. TBH i havent tried a Ferumat special so cant compare but its just what works for you.

phrygianradar is dead right on the specialist picks/decoders. If you are in the trade and constantly need to pick the same type of lock, then they are probably a timesaver. For full versatility stick with regular picking and i find this more rewarding anyway.

I think there is a vacuum in the dimple pick market... someone really needs to design a good set for reasonable money and ill stick with Kabas for now... I find them really challenging!!
