Brinks 527 key blank?

Postby Pin tumbler » 31 Jul 2013 3:47

Hey all kinda new to the forum sorta. Been doing a lot of reading.
Anyway i'v got a brinks 527 that I bought when I first started picking, almost a year now.
Well I lost my keys to it in a recent move. and still have not been able to manually pick it.
But I was able to use a pick gun to get it open. And now that its open I would like to make a new set of keys for it. but I'm having trouble finding out what key blank will fit it. i'v tried google for replacement keys and blanks and key ways but I'm not having any luck, or I'm over looking it.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

A very quick Google search tells me it's an American Lock keyway since this is a clone of the American Lock 700 TSR body padlock. AM7 6 pin, Also known as an Ilco A1045

You can buy them on Amazon or ebay, or other online places like MrLock, or here: http://mysecuritypro.com/americanpadloc ... lanks.aspx

Always try google or youtube first! :D

Thanks for the info. don't know why I could not find it on google..
Anyway I wonder what the chances of a local hardware store having this blank is?
There are no local locksmiths and I'm not driving 40 miles for a key blank. So I will most likely wind up ordering a few online. Thanks again.

They should have it. It is common enough.

stopped by the local hardware store today and sure enough they had the A1045 blanks. picked up two for $2.
Filed one already so now I have a usable lock and not just a paperweight.
Thanks again.
