Just made my first picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Just made my first picks

Postby cowboypicker » 2 Aug 2013 16:09

I just made my first few picks! I have a 14 piece southord set that I've use a couple of years. I've learned quite a bit with them but made up my mind to try to make a few. I made a half diamond, snake, med hook and a bogata. This is the first time I've ever used a Bogota style and I'm impressed! Now it looks like I need to fork out the cash and purchase a real one! The others seem to work as good as my limited ability.

They are made of hack saw blade on a belt grinder, hand sanded and run on a paper buffing wheel with white compound. I used my old picks as templates (the bogota was just eyeballed). i am looking forward to trying some new styles that I can print off.

Pics soon to come.

maybe it would be nice to post a pic of your pick next to the ones you've bought.

Did you make a handle-grip on them already? Wire or shrink-tube?
