So I went ahead and bought the one from Ebay. It should be here by the 22nd. I'll post pics of me taking it apart and everything and we'll see how it goes..
Very well, it will be great to see your progress. Here's a multi-part video that explains the process fairly well:
Please note, though: the lock you bought on ebay is keyed for a Kwikset keyway, but it's not actually manufactured by Kwikset, so the lock may be a little different than the one in the video. Either way it turns out, it'll be good to see your progress and it'll be a pleasure to lend help if you need any !

Thanks for all the videos! Yes, that was noted when I bought it, but I bought it since it was a few $ cheaper than the actual Kwikset. If I had bought the Kwikset, I would've had to wait a few weeks before ordering it due to money issues. But this, being cheaper, caused none. I can't wait for it to arrive!
Alright. Lock just arrived. I've disassembled it... too much. I pulled the plug out too quickly and forgot to put the plug follower in and so the top pins came out. Do the top pins or the springs go in first? Also, these keys are insane.
You load all the springs in the top of the bible, then the driver pins below and you load the keypins in the plug. It can be tough to do without a follower. Here's a video of how to do it with a follower and pin tweezers. If you don't have pin tweezers. Needle nosed-pliers can be used but it's a little harder. Just try to grab the very edge of the pin with your pliers and hold the pin as close to the end of the pliers as possible. Once you push the pin in a little, press the follower against it so it is stuck inside the bible. Then just slowly press the pin all the way into the lock using your pliers/tweezers until the follower goes to the next pin chamber. I hope at least some of that made sense, for a better explanation here's a video: How to effectively remove top pins is the first part of the video, how-to load pins starts at 2:30

Fox, you're the best ever! Thank you for the help. I was using a Sharpie cap for my plug follower and it couldn't get all the way through the bible, so instead of pinning it as the first pin, I pinned it as the last one. I'm excited to start doing this. Thank you for all your help!!
Eventually, I'll add another pin. And when I say eventually, I mean soon. Like in a few days. I enjoy picking this one pin, but I've found it's pretty easy. I'm starting to develop a bias for the rake I have and my half diamond over my hook (all by SouthOrd). I really like the half diamond because I seem to be able to feel things better with it over the hook. The hook, I can't seem to be able to push the pin up high enough. Maybe when I add more, it'll change.
@Ruff_Dog: Happy to help! PM me if you 'd like to try a security pin or if you break/lose any springs or pins (free of charge, of course). I taught a guy yesterday and he lost all but a few pins inside the folds of his EZ-chair later upon returning home .

Okay, well I'll need to PM you ASAP as I just bent three springs. I put the plug in and twisted too much, so the plug didn't line up with the bible. Then put the back part (the cap?) on and tried picking it. And then I realized it wasn't turning. So I had to force it open. And now I'm out of three springs.
Sorry to hear that, but I can't say I haven't been there myself when I was starting out ! This usually happens when you forget to put either a top or bottom pin in, the spring extends below the shear line and gets caught in the works. Comb picks are very good at fixing this without ruining a spring, they are commercially available from Southord. Send me a PM with a suitable mailing address and I'll ship it out tomorrow.

And does anyone know why my lock only turns 180 one way and 360 the other? I just repinned it (again) and it only turns 180 clockwise, 360 counter-clockwise. It was opposite before. How can I fix this?
