Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Hey guys! I decided to put my collection together and take photos of it. So I divided my collection in 2 parts. 1. My permanent Collection - The locks I want to really have here, and are not up for trade or sale (this isn't, of course, iron clad. I can change my heart depending on the offer). You will notice some really cheap locks here too. I know it may sound strange, but I don't only collect expensive and/or exotic locks. I am a little picky and I also like to have very common locks like kwikset and schlage. Also locks with weird "Technologies", not necessarily expensive and/or rare. Yeah, that's me... The weirdo 2. Surplus Locks - These are the locks that I might be willing to trade and or sell. It doesn't mean I'm willing to do it now, many of them still have to fall to the wrath of my picks before I let go of them. But they aren't the ones I am considering to keep for eternity! More locks are yet to come, I'm waiting for some fun stuff. Others I still didn't take photos becuse I haven't cutted keys for them (you may notice that on my permanent collection ALL have keys) or didn't find them when I took the photos, and will wait untill my next photo session. So the link is he........WAIT FOR IT.......re! HERE! Have fun! Filipe P.S. - I will be VERY thankfull to anyone who can fill the lack of info there is on some locks. I will even be MORE thankfull to whoever corrects info that might be wrong. Please let me know, ok?

Thank, but to be honest, this is my lightbox: LOL lame, I know. I opened a window to allow daylight (NOT direct sunlight) to enter the room. And left all the work (automatic flash and focus) for the camera to calculate.. I know next to nothing about photography. Just lucky I guess. I am opened for trades, but it will of course depend on the locks. Many of these are keepers. PM me. Thanks guys!

That's an impressive collection. I imagine not even half of those came from junk boxes like mine did Just a long time collector, or did you order specifically on most of them?

Beautiful pictures none the less.
"I know next to nothing about photography. Just lucky I guess.
I showed some of you locks to my wife and pointed out the white infinite back ground, she was impressed with the picture quality too.
I don't know much about photography either, but WE found your pictures to be of a professional quality. Well done! I wish I could take pictures like that...

Excellent post! It is more than helpful to see other kind of locks than basic pin tumblers and abloy disclocks with actual names on them Around 90% of the locks I see here fall into those categories. We need more these! As someone else asked, can you tell more about how you obtained those locks?

Fgarci03 finds wayward locks that have run away from home. Using pressure and intimidation techniques, he eventually breaks their will. Then he picks them, impressions them, and takes detailed pictures. As a final humiliation, he posts the lock p0rn online. The poor locks! Gordon

Innitially my locks all came from junk boxes too. Ater a while I started trading (my first trade was when I got the American Padlocks from Gordon!) and now I also specifically buy and/or trade for some locks. Not a long time collector. I started collectiong like 8 months ago. My collection is still tiny compared to many members here! @Altashot: Thanks mate. You can make a lightbox out of and IKEA box and put some lightning on it. Just that and a decent camera do wonders! And this is as far as my knowledge on photography goes @Gordon: %$//#$("#$%)$"#)& Why do you say these things to me? Yeah, I know they are true, but you make me look like a distasteful person Now, I'm waiting for some FUN stuff to arrive, stay tunned

Distasteful??? I was only speaking in admiration of your skills. You do have a very nice collection. It will be infesting to see how it changes over time. Gordon

Oh, so you won that auction for the medieval chastity belt? Too bad it has no keys. At least they are standard levers, so you can open the lock. Gordon
