First of all warm welcome at lp101 RockerG :)

Banhams are fascinating locks and they are extremely rare here, so I always enjoy reading about them. The story is particularly relevant since we are having a glue lock discussion parallel somewhere on this forum.
Without any hint of meannes may I call teh fact to your attention that the post you commented on was last written around 8 years ago. These thread are referred to as dead and posting on them is called "necromancing".
People who took part in this discussion are usually gone or no longer interested in that thread. So unless you have sth really substantial or helpful or revelating to add, replying to threads which are older than a year is generally not encouraged.
But don't worry, many people new to net forums are not aware of that, many of us did that in the beginning, (myself included). Just thought to give you a quick heads up :)
Again welcome to the forum and take a look around, I'm sure with that much experience you have a bunch of good stories to share and I hope (and believe) there is interesting info to be found around here. :)
To infinity... and beyond!
