Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Hey guys, this is my first post because I've never had anything post worthy have mostly just been lurking. I'm currently deployed as an EOD tech in the Army and because we're currently retrograding the battlefield, we are destroying a lot of stuff. Earlier today a Hamilton cabinet safe with an X-09 lock was dropped at our door step and we were tasked with opening/destroying it.
We started by turning the safe upside down and placing a thermite in the cup made by the bottom (we were just screwing around to see what would happen really). The first thermite merely made it really hot, so of course we put a second on on there and burned a hole through. We did this two more times (because we had two more thermites), then we tried to actually get in the thing.
While it was still upside down we took a crowbar to the edges of the bottom drawer until they were point almost straight out. We then hooked the wenches from our JERRVs onto the edges of the safe and pull the thing apart. The only thing inside were the operating instructions which was disappointing but I was glad at the same time.
So with a half burned instructions manual in hand a buddy and me proceeded to take the lock off of the safe. After several attempts we finally got the reset instructions to work and entered a new combo into it, allowing us to take the Lock On Back Cover off. For some reason though the Lock On Back Cover Pin wouldn't release fully even after the correct procedure, so being frustrated I pried it open with a crowbar and broke the piece that holds the Cover Pin in place. I'm not entirely sure but I think it had something to do with retracting the bolt as well, even if it doesn't I would still like to replace it so have a fully functioning X-09 on a mount.
That's my question and reason for the post, if anybody knows where I could get a replacement part or if it's even possible? I have pictures of the entire thing but because of my slow net here in the stan it's taking me a little while to upload them.
Thanks guys, Sully
p.s. sorry for the wall of text

Sounds like you had some fun! You can contact a safe supply house, they might have parts. For your personal use, you might consider just not using the lock on back cover of the rest of the lock works. And yes, the safe lock bolt has to be retracted to release the back cover. FYI, destructive entry methods should be reserved for the advanced forums, even if most people do not have access to thermite. Have a good day, and stay safe over there. Gordon

I figured that's where it belonged but don't have access, so I tried to just keep the technical info about the safe and lock to a minimum. If somebody that has access to the board wants to move my message there I can send them the pictures I have of the aftermath. Unless of course you think the pics would be fine on this board.

Post a photo of the part needed. I'll look through my spare bits.

I appreciate the help guys. Gordon, I'll ask my wife if she got the part, I think it should be there by now.

Sorry for the double post but I hadn't got a chance to look at that X-09 presentation yet. Just wanted to say thanks for the link mh, that's an awesome presentation and break down of the lock.
