Abloy doorknobs

Postby vastopylansi » 16 Sep 2013 3:04

Does anybody know where I can buy doorknobs with Abloy locks?

I have only been able to find one seller:
https://securitysnobs.com/Knob-Lock-wit ... -Core.html

Are there any alternatives?

Thanks

I also have a question about BiLocks.
I wanted to get a BiLock because it had the QCC feature, but then I read this on the SecuritySnob page:
"Virtually all of their locks can use the same key and interchangeable QC cores"

Please tell me that I misinterpreted this. There is no universal master QCC key that works for every single BiLock, right? Or will each of them will have their own QCC key?

No. :D
You did misunderstood it, they don't use the same key, but you can order more than one lock from them which are specially made to be opened with 1 key. It's useful if you want to have 1 key which opens the back door the front door and the garage door and so on as well.
But "normally" 2 locks with the same key are extremely rare. How rare depends on the lock itself, but in case of Bilock it will be extremely rare.

I'm not sure there is, Security snobs tends to be one of the very few who can offer these more exotic, high-end solutions and not sure if other lockies offer such things as well. They are a good reputable company, I have very good experience with them.
But if you want to look around, have you tried contacting abloy?

Where are you located?

Security Snobs is the largest Abloy dealer in the USA. They got that way by having good customer service, and competitive prices. They also have a location in the Netherlands so if you're in Europe, I believe with certain inventory items there is an option to have them shipped from there which may save you a bit on shipping.

If I'm not mistaken they're also the biggest BiLock dealer in North America if you decide to go with BiLock. Personally I'd go with Abloy, but BiLock is still a lot better than getting a regular household lock.

True, they are "now" the biggest Bilock dealer in NA, but they have an advantage in that they are the new "factory" for Bilock. They distribute to the Bilock dealers across the country. Some might call it a conflict of interest, when the distributor also becomes a reseller's direct competition.

I am a Bilock dealer too, but not nearly as much as they sell, but our prices are pretty much the same. I have been building Bilock for 20+ years worldwide. I have also installed the product into many and varied sites.
I would agree that Abloy Protec is a better product in terms of security, but probably not as competitively priced.

I am in Canada. Strangely enough, SS sells Abloy for a lower price than BiLock.

I don't think Abloy really distributes officially in the USA. When I contacted them I was directed to Canada and I'm in Florida!
