It is possible to get some of the cuts and if they have been rekeyed with coloured pins not at all difficult. Another way to speed things up is to pick the lock and use keys cut continuously to a single depth to help figure out the cuts. For example you have picked a padlock, you then slide the deepest cut key which obviously will pass all pins, then proceed to the next deepest, obviously this often won't work because a deep cut in the first position or second position will make determining the subsequent two cuts more difficult, but often you can get half the cuts or better with this method.
