Pick Freeze?

Postby mechanical_nightmare » 1 Oct 2013 3:08

Has anyone here had it when you are able to pick a lock open fairly easily over a week or two, and all of a sudden it takes much longer to pick? I have a tri-circle dimple padlock that I picked successfully within minutes during the first attempt, but for some reason, using the same tension and binding order I am unable to pick it. I also have a Yale 500 series Euro cylinder which I could consistently pick in under a minute, yet now it takes much longer. I know practice is the key here, but is this a common occurrence?

Oh boy!

It has happened to me! Worst than that. I pick the same lock over and over again in under 2minutes. Then I turn my camrea on and take 10minutes. The moment I turn it off I pick it again fast. Rinse and repeat :x

Keep practising. It'll go away with time!
Go ahead, keep plugging away, picking on me! You will end up on bypass or with rigor mortise.

The freezing or the lock? :P

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Well I'm glad to hear that its not only me experiencing this, as frustrating as it is. I also find that your level of alertness (distractions such as noise, sleepiness, etc.) also greatly changes picking success. I will keep practicing though as I am committed to mastering this art and am a patient person (or so I think)

Good to know you are commited, that's 95% of what it takes to do anything!
