Need Help Replacing Electric Door Strike

Postby apolcari » 8 Oct 2013 22:40

Hello,

I'm currently trying to replace the mortise lock and electric strike on the front door of my building and need help!

The electric strike appears to be quite old and I'm having a hard time identifying a replacement for it. See below for a picture of the strike - any help in identifying what it is / a relpacement would be greatly appreciated!

Other than that - I'm pretty sure if identified the appropriate replacement for the mortise lock/knob itself - an Arrow AM01-BG Passage Mortise Lock.

Below are a couple images of what is currently installed:

The only thing that is throwing me here is the "BG" portion of the lock type. Can somebody explain to me what the difference between "BG", "BH", "HBG", "HTG" etc..is?

Thanks.

Thank you! Super helpful. I've done some more searching on the electric strike and think I've identified it -- http://www.hesinnovations.com/en/site/hesinnovations/Products-startpage/?productId=149297

The bummer is that the lock currently installed doesn't have a deadbolt...looks like i'll have to get the same strike just so it fits in the cut-out already in the door...

With the strike you have to match the faceplate to the lock carefully. You don't want the deadlatch entering the strike opening. If you change the lock you will probably need to use a lever not a knob to meet code. Also check the voltage. Is it fail safe or fail secure? I would imagine you need a storeroom function for the mortise lock, that is what I would spec.

[I'm a spammer and a mod deleted my outbound commercial link to my site]... like yours this is exactly what happen to my door, despite of the glass doors, good that I have it modified with welded iron to fit the door knob of that kind.
