Because I've been interested in SFICs lately and I'm asking as much or more for the purposes of understanding what's out there as solving any particular problem. Perhaps I should have clarified that this is more of a "what COULD I buy" than "what SHOULD I buy" question
There might be another locking device or accessory which can be installed as opposed to a double cylinder lock to accomplish a similar level of security without risking entrapment...
Sure, I'm interested in what else might work (security film on a window next to the lock, for example), but primarily I'm interested in exploring the SFIC solution space, as it were (I've also been looking for SFIC switch locks -- not that I have any use for one, but because I'm curious what exists)
Captive SFIC cores do exist, just not in the way you are thinking they are implemented... They are called "trap cores" and are used to capture a given key that they are keyed up to trap -- no other key functions and once captured it remains immobile in the core and requires professional removal methods...
I'm pretty sure I've seen key-retaining SFIC padlocks, so something more along the line I'm thinking of, except those would retain in the unlocked position instead of in the locked one. (Unless the retention is a property of the body and not the core?)
