Disc detainer safe locks

Why are most keyed safe locks lever locks? I mean aside from the crap "safes" that have a warded lock backup the vast majority of safe locks are lever locks. Given the formidable reputation disc detainer locks have gained why are they not used?

I guess you have never seen a LaGard 2200? Although it is different than the disc detainer locks you might be thinking of.

Lever locks also have an excellent reputation, so why not use them?
There's also no real need to miniaturize a safe lock, so proven lever locks can be used.

Many safes do use lever locks.
