i just got my first pick set and after about 10 minutes trying to pick my room door
i got the tension wrench stuck, after about 20 minutes if taking the lock apart (i had no idea how to take a lock off a door) i got it out in 5 minutes so it was a 35 minute wast of time
please tell me if one of you have ever got the wrench stuck

I've never had the wrench stuck so i had to take the lock apart. Also what kind of lock is your room door, you can usually pick a room door with a closehanger or screwdriver.

Is the lock a pin tumbler or can you get it with a screwdriver or close hanger?

Well, thanks for admitting that, it was good for a laugh. Don't feel bad though. I once managed to shove a half diamond pick about a quarter inch under my thumbnail. Tears are welling up in my eyes just remembering it.

I have managed to LOSE the end of a rake pick in a lock before. That was quite embarasing.. and after managing to use a second pick to shove the offending blockage to the back of the keyway, then pick the lock, I was able to remove it all and retrive the end of my now retired rake... alas...
Of course I pretened it was all quite normal, and happened all the time

Hmmm,
I once managed to break a key-extractor and jam it together with
the part of a key to be extracted out ...
Had to tap thread into the key to get both out

I've got the wrench stuck once but I just jiggled it and it came out. When I broke off the end of my hook pick in a padlock I just shook it and the piece fell out, which is good because I didn't have an extractor.

One time, when I was working for a locksmith, I rekeyed a lock. Well when I put the lock back together the key didn't work, thus I must have rekeyed it wrong. So I figured I'd pick it open. First I broke my snake pick (in all fairness it was bent already from when I was just starting), then I did pick it with the hook pick. However, the tension wrench got stuck, I pulled it out... the whole plug came out, I forgot to put the clip on after rekeying. I can still hear the locksmith laughing his head off. Needless to say, I remembered that clip for the rest of my time there.
Lock picking is an art, not a means of entry.

Wolf,
I did the same type of thing. During the impressioning chapter of the FB course, I could not make out the marks on the blank. So I picked it open, and wanted to pull the plug for a 'look-see.' Forgot all about the 'C' clip, and the plug turned on me, came out a bit, and then re-set itself in the wrong chambers.
All I could do is shake my head, and send it back to them.
