What type of key fit this lock?

Postby eastside1320 » 21 Oct 2013 7:27

Hi all,

I can't open my front metal gate key, the previous owner moved out with their keys.

Please could anyone tell me what type of key fit the lock. I need to make a bump key to bump this lock.

I appreciate if anyone would give me some help, thanks.

Oh! no, I don't know how to attach a picture to show you the lock, please help!

Perhaps you can draw it accurately in ascii art for us? We might be able to help if it turns out very detailed.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

It might be easier to contact the previous owner/estate agent/landlord for the key..

upload pics to http://tinypic.com or to http://imgur.com/ then Paste the link here.

If beancurds good idea doesn't pan out, I recommend you call a locksmith, learning picking or bumping for the first time ever just to open 1 lock is not something I recommend, this is a hobby that requires time, practice, and dedication.

lol @ zeke79's ASCII art comment
