Need Key Blank cross reference chart + blanks

Postby vk4akp » 21 Oct 2013 3:49

Hi,

Our group is getting into key cutting.
We've bought a machine.

I'm trying to find a good reference chart to cross reference key blank numbers from different suppliers.

Also if someone can recommend some good suppliers?

The main key we would like to start out with is the common C4 house key. (Anyone know the equivalents numbers?)
Also some common car keys. (Early Holden Torana, Commodore, etc, Toyota, Nissan. etc).

Any help appreciated.

OK So I'm looking for equivalency numbers for the following key blanks so far.
There are others, but these are the ones I've been able to identify so far with well known part numbers.

ilco - LP98A - (GMH Holden Torana, VC,VB,VH,VK Commodore).
ilco - C4 - House Door Locks.
ilco - K21 , C13 - Post Office Box Key.

www.lockpicks.com looks like a good place to order?
I just need the conversion codes.

Try this:

This will have a large cross reference. Other key blank manufacturers usually have something similar.

I'll have a look.
But I think I've been through those before.
I took some photo's of the keys we are trying to identify the blank codes for. Maybe this will help.
Original pics can be seen on the link. They are a bit wide for the forum post so the heads aren't fully displayed.

Could I ask what you are using to photograph those keys? The close up detail is very good. My camera went south, and the camera in the phone will not give me close up detail.

Aye Aye Captain Tom, I certainly can tell you. :)

It's a HTC EVO 3D. The best mobile phone ever to be created by HTC because it can take and display 3D pictures that you can look at in 3D without having to wear the silly 3D glasses.

I actually wasn't happy with the results myself. I think the quality could have been better. But most mobile phone cameras require a lot of light to get a good picture, and given that the key's are chrome more light means more shine off the surface.
So those photo's were taken inside in lowish light without a flash for most.

I also have a Pentax K200D DSLR camera that I really should have used instead, but I was too lazy to get it out. LOL ;)

I can also provide the photo's in 3D if you wish.
The 3D effect can be quiet impressive. Images actually popping out of the screen.

You should see the effect when you display a topless bikini girl on the screen with 40 double "D"'s. Breath taking.!!! ;)
