All in one pick? Best Pick?

Hello I'm new here so be gentle I was wondering if there is a pick that picks most basic locks. Like house locks. I realize they can all be different but what is the best tool to use. I dont want to carry around a lot of different picks. If anyone has ever watched the show Dexter he only has one pick and gets in within seconds. I know its a show, but still. Any help at all please.

My first pick was a thin half diamond. It was okay, but not ideal.

Become proficient with a simple hook- style pick. I'm of the opinion that this is really the only pick a beginner should use, and its good for opening most pin or wafer locks.

Again, that's just my personal opinion, and I'm sure there are some who will call me crazy.

I agree with crkress. All of the hook style picks can do a lot for you. And don't get frustrated if you don't get the "feel" for these picks right away. With practice you should be able to conquer many locks.

I like the short to medium height rounded tip "deforest" type hook.

Diamonds, medium and very thin, are your best friend. BUT DO NOT SKIP THE SECTIONS ON THE TURNING TOOL variations which might actually be more important. A 3-D matrix of tool vs turning tool, vs lock application would be more vauuable but I dont think anyone has tried such a complex resource yet.

Either this is a party question or you need more actual hands on experience.

Yea, myself after much research before even creating an account here have come to the conclusion of ordering a tension and standard hook from southord for a measly $5 after shipping. I will practice to master that and then see what else is out there to better my new hobby! I have noticed the snappers are like cheating though and see that raimundo makes them which can only mean they are amazing! I am new as well but hopefully somewhat informative!
