lighting your workspace

I have over the years tried many lights in my service truck, both 12 volt and 110 volt running from an inverter. I have finally found an inexpensive solution.

I bought these inexpensive light bulb bases at Home Depot for $3.98 each and added a 6 watt LED Cree bulb for @ $10 each. The light is very even radially from the bulb, it has a colour temp that is much the same as an incandescent bulb, it is equal to a 40 watt bulb. They give off no heat and more importantly they do not seem to attract mosquitoes.

I'm going to add a few more around the truck now that I have tested one unit.

Good tips man.

I've been thinking of replacing all my home lighting with the CREE bulbs.. They're something like $9.99-$12.99 per bulb at my local Home Depot.

I am actually considering replacing the lightbulb in my room with a long ultra bright 5600k LED stripe behind the ceiling frame so I can get bright diffuse light in all my desk.

Everywhere I sit the lightbulb is behind me, the lamp I have does not cut it and placing bulbs all over the place would be really messy. Still thinking about how to run the cabling, but It doesn't look like a bad idea.

They work nicely. I just replaced the CFL bulbs in my kitchen, much nicer.

Went out and took a photo. Not sure if this shows it very well but both my code machine and duplicator are bathed in nice usable light from just the one bulb.

Just added two more lights. One above my pin kit and another on the inside storage area of my truck. Like working in daylight at midnight!
