Cad templates - need help

Postby mikus » 5 Nov 2013 15:59

Im new to this forum and to lockpicking, after making few lockpicks i decided to take a shortcut and let the machinery work ;) My main problem while making picks is that i dont have dremel or any small powertools and my hacksaw blades are too hard for hand files so i came up with idea to cut them on cnc laser.
What thicknes of spring steel should have for the picks (im from europe), and what shapes should i add or remove from the template (this is from Romstar Systems template + bogota)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_LAo8 ... sp=sharing
Im also planning on making credit card templates and i dont know which picks should i put there.
In exchange for help i can draw you sth in cad :)

In the US, I think a common width is 0.025" (0.635mm).

I've never used a laser cutter for steel before, and I'm interested in seeing how this works out!

I wont be cutting them out on laser becouse i found out lockpicking is illegal in my country and i dont want to get into trouble. I think laser cutter or more probable water jet cutter (it gives smooth edges while these from laser need refining) is what they use to produce lockpicks you can buy.

I bought 0.5 mm spring steel sheet but it is too soft (1.4310 grade) and will require hardening.
