Hello I am pretty new to lockpicking and would like to learn more. I was wondering if you owned a small shop and someone asked if they could come in 1 day a week without anykind of pay would you show them the ins and outs of being a locksmith? I am asking this cause I don't want to look to stupid going to the shop just down the street from where I live.

Depends on the person and how you ask. Some people are very defensive of the locksmithing "secret" so you may get turned down.

No harm in trying. The worst they can say is "no." Maybe bring a box of donuts and some coffee or something with ya as a peace offering. ;)

Also, dress smartly. I don't mean wear a suit, but don't turn up in ripped jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt with a dodgy slogan & a baseball cap on backwards...or worse, sideways.

Ask to speak with the boss or owner, and try to schedule an appointment if they are not available. If you get an appointment, try to be a few minutes early.

If you get rejected, take it on the chin. Ask if there may be a further opprtunity in the future and offer to leave a contact number.

Hey Patch thats exactly what i did. I wasn't sure if the local locksmith would hire me so i asked if i could just help out a few times a week for no pay, just to learn and get some experience. She let me do that and eventually she liked having me around to help out so she hired me as an apprentice :D and now i get to go on house calls for normal jobs, or i can go with her to assist if it's a more complicated job
