Hey mechanical_nightmare, it's a unique looking "double key" like the one pictured here. Those two locks are the inner and the outer part of the same door lock. The square one has all the pins and it's the external one. The round one has less pins, it's a lot thinner, and it's the internal one.
Well done l0ckcr4ck3r, now that you've opened the astral, look into the AP3
Thanks l0ckcr4ck3r, by the way, it looks like you filed/sanded the edges of your SO dimple picks. Is that what you did? I would assume it makes moving through the wards easier. If it does I might just do the same with mine. By the way, that CISA AstralS looks very difficult to pick. Good job!
@femurat - First time I've ever seen a key like that. It would be cool to have one in my collection, and try to pick it!
If you do not manipulate the lock, then the lock will manipulate you
Yeah i used a sanding drum on a dremel to start with and then finished of with 600 grit, it makes a big difference! Be careful not to remove much from the handle end of the pick tip, i did this and the tips are now a little too springy.
Thanks Pickmequick, but it was too long! Probably about 10hours in total to get the feel of the lock and figure out how the top pins worked and opened the first time. The third time round was about 6 mins.
It is the best small padlock so far, although I have more on the way for which I have high hopes:
It is very visible in this video, where I drop an overset pin by reducing tension. I do not see this recommended or mentioned in most videos and guides on lock picking, but I do it all the time. It is noticeable because it is the last thing I do before opening the lock. It doesn't happen to be the last pin very often.
This lock also has an anti-snap cut between the number 2 and 3 pins. You can see it in the photo if you look to the left side of the cylinder carefully. The guy at the hardware store claimed the lock has a patent restricted keyway. Can anyone confirm this?
If you do not manipulate the lock, then the lock will manipulate you
@Femurat: I'm glad you liked them! I'm enjoying your dimple pick so much. Even for regular pin tumblers. I'm not usually a guy to use half diamonds but this one just works like charm! Will post pictures of it later!
@l0ckcr4ck3r: Amazing job with the AstralS! You should post how you got to it, and tips for us noobs

That lock is incredibly easy to pick! Poor machinery unfortunately. I just love it for it's uniqueness!
@mechanical_nightmare: Very nice job on the Yale. To answer your question, I'm not sure if it's restricted or not, but I just picked up 3 random cheap dimple locks of my collection and they have the inverted shape of that keyway:
Let's see what Gordon has to say about this. He has 2 dimples with that keyway too, not sure if they are that exactly, or the inverted version!
Go ahead, keep plugging away, picking on me! You will end up on bypass or with rigor mortise. - GWiens2001
