This is a safe I bought for $10 because the combo was lost, I won't go into how I manipulated it, but I did get it open. Inside were the items pictured, EMPTY money bags, a #2 pool ball, a business card and an empty pill bottle. Pretty happy with it, it's a good safe too!

Nice find! Your picture doesn't show the face of the door. Sorry to hear the Money bags weren't full! You should be able to resell that on craigs list for a good profit+ you get to keep the #2 pool ball.

The door is pretty plain, the lock is a S&G R6730, just need to order a change key and set my own combo. and yes, when the fence finally fell into place and it opened, i was very happy!

Can you give a guess-timate as to how long it took to manipulate? Did you cheat and use the bolt down holes to spy through?

Can't recall seeing an Amsec with a single little bolt like that. Perhaps it is a day drop designed for store under counter use perhaps a t a price point for a specific chain. I know The Gap has some oddball little safes under their counters that I never see at other stores.

I cheated by looking through the small hole in the back of the safe, after 3 hours of trying. and as far as bolts, it has 2 more, one on the top and another on the bottom of the door. Also has a flange on the hinge side that helps hold it in if someone tried cutting the hinge off.

Nice safe, I would stencil a design on it if I were you. Flat red, yellow, green, or brown would look good.

Awesome Find, I found a similar safe locked in the garbage once... Had it open fairly quickly. Anchor holes usually can be a big help if the safe is light and can be moved around with ease. Especially with the right tools.
That moment when you seen the money bags, before opening them, must of been heaven...lol
If you plan on working on safes, it's always a good idea to take lots of pictures.

Nice work! I don't have much experience with safes as of yet but I can Imagine how challenging that was. Those money bags are really cool too. Makes you wonder, what could this safe possibly have been used for? Must be very satisfying to find one locked up, get it open, and then re purpose it for your own use.

That type of safe is called a "drop safe" - meant for people to make cash drops at a store until it is time to take the money out and to the bank.

By scoping the change key hole through one of the bolt holes it usually takes 5 minutes to open one after you get your scope in position.

Yeah, I need to get a scope, as I'm a tinkerer, and I've had times where I've thought it would be nice to have. Looking in wall cavities, engines, containers, safes, etc
