SP02 & SP03

Postby radius » 19 Oct 2004 22:15

I'm buying a set of standard-handled picks from lockpick shop and am considering the SP02 and SP03 double-ended picks. Has anybody used them? What picks are at the end (if I were ordering a set, which picks would they replace?) Are they any good?

The SP-02 looks like a C-rake and a small hook.
The SP-03 looks like an S-rake and a small diamond.

All four are pretty useful, although it's up to you whether or not you like it. I don't like the feel of them in my hand though, they're a bit small. Once again, however, personal preference.

The choice is between those and non-reinforced handled ones.

I prefer the biger handles, but that hook is actually a bit larger than the standard SO hook and the sp-02 rake is a bit higher than the standard SO rake so I use them sometimes when appropriate - I keep sp-02 in my wallet allong with a tiny wrench made out of wind screen wiper blade.

I find it awkward to use though.

I've never used SP-03 - the rake end is too big to fit in a lot of locks that I've tried and I don't like the diamond - the sides of the diamond are at different angles.

if I just had to pick individual non-reinforced handled picks I'd go for:

SP-07(or 06) (diamonds)
SP-09
SP-10
and for wallet: SP-02..

hey - I just realised that they've got slimline picks for sale individually finaly!!!

those are probably better in the long run.
so:
SLS-04 (slimline diamond)
SLS-07 (small/medium slimline hook)
SLS-13 (slimline c-rake (snake))
and maybe
SLS-11 (deforest with diamond (as opposed to half-ball))
Oh look! it's 2016!

I think I'm going to go with normal non-reinforced picks.

SP-06 Large Diamond
SP-07 Small Diamond
SP-09 Short Hook
SP-10 C-Rake
SP-11 S-Rake

Either an SP-12 (L-Rake) or SP-05 (Single ball, for wafer locks)

Tension Wrenches:
TW-02 Short Twist Flex
TW-03 Long Twist Flex
TW-18 Double Ended

Which should I go with, the SP-12 or SP-05?
I guess I'll get slim-lines eventually; I just want a cheap set this time around; if this gets fun, I'll look at more.
