Chubb safe ID?

Postby gooki » 28 Oct 2013 15:30

Hi Folks,

I have combed the interwebs trying to find what the model of this Chubb safe might be, no luck.
I have emailed Gunnebo but they have not replied yet.

I'd like to buy the safe and the seller does not have combos for it so we can't check the labels on the inside.
The only thing I was able to get from them is what they believe are serial and model numbers<-?

I believe the serial number is 16-30-43 .76

we have a model number too I think....R.6731

Any idea on what this may be? Thanks for any help you experts may lend me.

After all my search .. Of which I am not done .. I can tell you that because of the logo on the handle the safe was made in the 1970s.. The R.6731 is not a model number it is most likely the Model number for the S&G dial locks on the door... The other number may be the serial number but it is probably supposed to be 163043-76.. The 76 at the end is probably the size ..

Many older safes model numbers were just that, their exterior dimensions.
Normally: W x D x H.

Cool Chubb, that's a nice safe.

It's the Equiv. To a Class 3 here in Canada.

Equipped with hardplate and relocker.
Possibly Glass.
R6730 is a very popular S&G lock
It has two combination locks, most likely 3 wheel, although I've seen 4s. Not with those dials.

these can be set up to work together (dual custody) , or either or. (redundant)

A Safe Tech will be needed to open the safe, The price can vary depending on if both locks need to be defeated or just one. A good Idea would be to scan the exterior of the safe for a combo written in pencil, or a sticker. If this is not there, a safe tech will be needed, Please do not drill or try opening this safe in any destructive manner, as you will just have a pile of worthless steel.

In my opinion this safe is worth having opened by a Safe Technician. (If you choose to use a locksmith make sure they are worthy of safework)

Thanks

The serial number given looks an awful lot like how you write a combination down, minus the .76
ie. my locker combo is 45-14-34

Looking at the safe they don't seem like dimensions, doesn't seem right proportionally.

But holdon aren't 6731's 4 wheeled, making the combo 16-30-43-76?

6731 is a four wheeled. My bad, I read 6730.

Try that combo, try it a few times, If that's not it, try the factory codes. There is some pretty easy ways to tell how many wheels are in the pack, which will give you a good indication towards dialing sequence.

If you need Try-out or Factory combos for this safe, let me know.
