Replacing upvc lock

I've tried to replace my upvc door lock but can't because of 2 pieces of metal which stop the screen coming out (the one on the panel). Here is a pic http://i44.tinypic.com/wix1sk.jpg

Also can I remove the lock if I don't have a key?

The door is unlocked but we've lost the key and the home therefore isn't secure.

Please help

gotta laugh.....you are in a panic because you cant lock your door on your property, but rather than ring local locksmiths for price, you take time to register on the forum and post - then sit and wait for hopefully some replies before you presumably go to bed!!!

anyway, to answer your Q - it is a fullex unit and if you fully lift (or lower, cant remember) then the 'pieces of metal' will no longer be in the way of the screw. Removing the screw wont help you getting the cylinder out though as you need a key, or pick it so the cam is in the right position.

no doubt someone will instruct you how to break the cylinder.........but if you damage the gearbox then prepare for a good 3 figure sum to replace!

You over estimated my state of mind. I'm not in a panic, simply asking the question.

Not entirely sure I follow what you mean though but it seems your answer confirms what I though, that I will have to get a locksmith in to replace it as I don't have the key.
