Peterson ENP Picks

I was looking for new picks on the Peterson site and saw these ENP individual picks... are they any good? Kind of shy about spending 15 or 8 bucks on a single Peterson gov steel pick, so I'd like to know what you guys think about these compared to the gov steel and the carbon steel. Thanks!

The carbon steel picks with the nickle plating (ENP) are pretty good - comparable to HPC in terms of strength and I prefer the Peterson design, especially with the new "euro" line - the reduced shank height really helps in tight keyways, it gives you a more rigid tool than if you went to a slender pick.

Some people say you get better feedback from the carbon steel at the expense of a slightly weaker pick. I can't really tell the difference in feedback but the gov't steel is certainly stronger. If I was new and had these as an option, I would probably get multiple carbon steel picks vs. one or two of the gov't steel ones since you'll bend or break a couple almost no matter what unless you are super gentle. If price is the major issue, I would have no problem sticking to the ENP picks but you really can't go wrong either way.

The Government Steel picks I got from them are tougher than a leather cough drop,so seems you have a choice to make.

Mine are as tough as a $2 steak .
No difference to me in feedback between carbon and stainless, by the way.

Okkk.... I take from that that as a beginner I should get ENP picks to start with and then later on maybe gov steel... am I missing anything?

Yeah that is about it. But maybe a smaller set of basic picks in gvt steel can fit you well. It dpends on your perosnl style, I rarely garble up picks, cause I pick slowly and carefully but I know much much better pickers who did eat up a bunch of picks when they started out.
PEterson euro picks are great, but if you are is US a beginner should start with normal peterson picsk, they are thicker and less easy to bend.
I love my HPC hook as well though.

Well the way I heard it,it's "harder" than woodpecker lips,but I guess tougher would also apply.
