Can a C-Rake be used for SPP?

Postby parkourer » 5 Feb 2014 15:39

Hey,

Recently, i acquired a C-Rake. I know it is for raking a lock, but my friend, (who is also new to lockpicking, but didnt use any tutorials), came up with this method to hold the handle of the rake down, and drag it out of the lock, therefore pushing all the pins up. It actually works fast, and pretty well. I later knew that this was called SPP. My question is, since a c-rake is meant for raking will this damage the lock, and also if a short hook will do this better. Another question i have is: Is this an actual way of SPP or is there a easier way to do it?

Thanks for any replies

Mike :D

No I would get a beginner set with a hook. Hooks are meant to be used for SPP. C rakes are meant to be used for raking. I recommend a small set from www.southord.com/www.thinkpeterson.com/ ... world.com/

I found this cool small set for cheap too. http://www.amazon.com/Lock-Pick-w-bonus ... k+pick+set

Sounds like some sort of raking to me. SPP (single pin picking) means to push and try each pin individually.
You could do that with a C-Rake (snake?) of course, but a hook's the better choice because it's designed for it.
And no, nothing will be damaged with your friend's method.

In case you or your friend haven't read the MIT Guide to lockpicking yet, here's the link
