Hey Guys, I am a beginner at this. I have only been able to pick one lock succesfully so far. I don't have any other locks that i could pick in my house but this Master Lock combination PadLock (No matter what i do, i can't seem to pick it ), and an old Schlage lock (which i heard is too hard, and cannot pick it). So i looked on amazon for a padlock, and most of them say they have security pins. Can you guys please find and post links for a easy to pick padlock (not deadbolt), that doesn't have security pins and is easy to pick? Also preferably 10 dollars or less. Thanks Mike

+1 to the Master #3. Many people, including myself, learned to pick using that lock. The Master #530 should have no security pins in it. (Not counting the one I sent it to fgarci03 ) You might want to avoid this lock, as the keyeay is a bit rough: Even a short hook by legion303 barely fits! Gordon

Yes that looks like a Master No 3. Don't let the "4 pins helps prevent picking" nonsense scare you. It has 4 standard pins that are easy to pick once you get your technique down. What master lock means when they say "4 pins helps prevent picking" is really 4 pins help prevent picking more than 3 or less pins would, which in reality there is practically no difference. It's all marketing bull in my opinion lol. Btw you might find it cheaper in the store than it is on that listing.

You seem to like amazon, but $10 for that padlock is too much. Unless you live somewhere remote like Oak Island in Canada, your local big box store is a better bet. and yes, those 4 pins are better than.. i donno, tying your shed with rope or a zip tie. it's really crafty marketing by the goons at Master Lock to make people think 4 pins is secure.. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Lock- ... /100177124

Thanks a lot!! . Sadly, Home Depot doesn't ship to where i live, and it is far away. :p I have one more question that i don't really know if you will know the answer: I found this No. 3 Red Lock: http://amzn.com/B0010E710W . Its 5 dollars cheaper, and from the Master Lock company, but is the only difference the color? Why would it be 5 dollars cheaper just for the color. Looks shady, BTW: also it only has 1 rating, compared to the rest.

A.)LOL at the 4 pins for security... well it really depends. I mean it's more ssecure than a lock with 2 pins... B.) That's a cool LOB padlock you got there Gordon, is the auro cylinder changeable? If it is do you know what type it is? Not sure, haven't seen a red master lock. So you don't have any hardware store around you? Man, you must really live somewhere remote BTW Parkourer, I thought doing parkour required a city (?)

Lol no, I live in a city, the hardware store is 40-30min drive, and I have no time to go there. But do you think the red lock looks legit? And why are the no. 3 locks specifically is so beginner friendly?

How about any liquor stores. They sometimes have cheap padlocks for sale. Were I live, liquor stores carry cheap master lock pin tumbler locks for under 5 dollars. If you also have a dollar store around you, you can also try there.

The lock is a LOB Granit 2, protected shackle. Received it direct from Poland recently. Yes, the half euro profile cylinder is removable by way of a screw inside the shackle toe hole. Also has a strong shackle spring. My son says it could be used for a trap. Gordon

Basically that lock is a joke. Only 4 pins, no security features and an open keyway. Best thing for learning how to pick. In my opinion, get the red one. For that price it's never a bad deal!

Okay, but one more thing just came up: what about the master lock no. 1?? Isn't that easier than the no. 3? The prices seem cheaper too! Which one is more beginner friendly?

Never picked a Nº1... But they are all pretty much the same. 4 pins without any security pins: http://www.lockwiki.com/index.php/Master_Lock_No_1Get both and then you have more to pick
