While it might seem like a good idea, and it is probably comfortable, you should not keep your keys at any place visible to others. I can easily decode a key at a glance if it's from the 5-6 most common types, and in the US where shlage and kwickset has such huge market share it's even more easy to do.
After that you can cut or file a key without much hassle, unless it's some exotic profile (which it rarely is).
Nowadays with ubiquitous cameras (on every mobile phone, and even telepohot lenses are cheap and available if it someone is half-serious) then, it's a child's play, you snap a picture and with a bit of research on the internet pretty much anyone can copy a more common unrestricted key.
So I would strongly encourage everyone not to keep the keys at a visible place.
To infinity... and beyond!
