Help to identify and open old safe

Postby topquark173 » 12 Mar 2014 21:28

I have an old safe which I am trying to open. I think I know the combination but I don't know the opening instructions. For example, I don't know if it is 4 spins to the left to the first number etc. I'm hoping that this community can identify the model of safe and perhaps provide me with the opening order. Pictures are attached in my google drive:

Thank you for your help.

From what little I know about antique safes, this most resembles an Alpine based on the L shape hinges, the square door, round corners, and the shape of the dial and handle. I searched for Alpine safe dialing order and found this:

Andy from all.experts article wrote:The 4 Factory combos are as follows:

3 times right to: 65 - 45 - 55 - 29
2 times left to: 25 - 15 - 20 - 40
1 time right to: 45 - 35 - 40 - 55
Turn handle.

If you turn the handle, putting a little a pressure on the lock, and turn the dial, you will feel a spot where the pressure is released as the dial turns. This will be the last number of the combination. Check it against the above combo's to see if one matches the last number.

they're written in a shorthand format, read them downwards. so first factory combination is 65-25-45, second one is 45-15-35, and so on.

Mind you this is IF you truly have an Alpine safe, and the instructions I got are from Andy who is a wealth of knowledge:

hope this helps!

Squelchtone, if you were any better, they'd make you the site admin here. Oh, wait, they already did.

Nuff said. 8)

I'm only guessing it is an Alpine, not saying I know for sure. Thanks for the kind words, I wont ban you today.
