So, after reading up on a few of the newbie posts here and some very basic lock understanding(mostly wafer type automotive lock cylinders) I picked up the 5pc Southord set and book from lockpickshop and got it this weekend. I whipped through a few masterlock padlocks and felt good about using the s rake to jiggle it open, but tonight successfully picked my first Schlage. I pulled the whole cylinder apart, foolishly without a blocker for the plug and had to reinstall all 5 pins and springs, but I feel like it gave me a little better grasp on what i was doing.
Long story short, after monkeying around for a half hour or so sitting here at the desk she rolled over. It was a pretty great feeling! It took a lot of looks at the key and peering through with the plug held up to a light to see what pins were still needing to be set, I feel pretty good that it turned.
If this is the wrong place for this, please correct me as the format here is a little different from others I'm on, but I just wanted to throw it out that I picked it successfully and with all my hair still in place!
