how to pick a disk detainer lock?

Postby south town ninja » 17 Mar 2014 11:30

i have a bicycle lock, made by Kryptonite, and it has a series of rotating disks that all must rotate to the proper degree in order to get it to unlock. I believe it's called a disk detainer lock, and I cannot begin to figure out how one would pick it. I don't "need" to get it open (I have a key, actually). It is just a new style of lock that I have yet to pick, or to even learn how. Any help That anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated, because as a lockpicker, it vexes me that i cannot pick this lock. Thank you.

So hey, this is considered Advanced info at the moment, one because it is disc detainer and obviously too advanced to be picked by beginners, two, it is commonly used for bike and vending locks so we only discuss it in Advanced so we don't accidentally teach a bad guy how to easily steal bikes.

Some cheap imitation disc detainer locks can be picked, but high quality disc detainer locks such as Abloy cannot unless you area a real expert in doing so, and only on their oldest models which do not have any of the newer features from the last 50 years of development.

enjoy some disc detainer youtube videos for now, but please only discuss it in the correct areas on the forum. If you dont have advanced access yet, please enjoy other aspects of the hobby and forum for now.

Thank you,
