Safe Sidewalls

Postby Batlow » 23 Oct 2004 9:04

I am looking at buying a safe to contain money, i was wondering the security on a $3000 safe specifically the thickness of the sidewalls / weather it is possible to drill it and how "manipulation" proof my safe will be.
I do not have a model yet i was hoping from the info i get i could pick one
Thank you

I am most worried about someone drilling/cutting out the sidewall and was primarly wondering the general thickness of sidewalls
please tell me if i am being paranoid about drilling/cutting

Thank you again

If you plan on keeping more than $5,000 or so in a safe, plan on getting a TRTL30 rated safe. This means that it has been tested for both standard tools as well as torch and other cutting devices. Sidewalls on any UL listed safe can range from up to 8 or 10 inches thick, and are by no means simple for amateurs. I have a chart somewhere that gives the listings for the various degress of protection. I'll try and find it and copy it to a sticky in the FAQ section.

Btw, you can feel free to post all similar questions you may have concerning shopping for a safe in a single thread which will make it easier for all to read. Thanks. ;)

Thankyou for the answer(s) :) - it seemed a good idea at the time so i wasnt asking too many questions about safes in one thread, it seems to be a touchy subject sometimes

Chart would be nice if you could find it

thanks again
