Beginner-Friendly Padlock, Security Pins

I must have an easier pro sport then. Mine has so much counter rotation it was very obvious which pin was binding yet when you released tension to set a pin rarely did any fall down. I think they key for me was light tension and don't be afraid to ride that counter rotation to set the pin.

Hmm really? Maybe it had to do with the fact that I found the lock on the road. LoL then again it was dirty.

This is a follow up, to my post
So I got the Master 130 today. It has 4 pins with spool pins. It actually was great (sort-off). I manage to detect the counter-rotation and open the lock. I did this many times.
The thing is, the keyway is relatively small, and i am using a normal tension wrench and pick, so i had to move my pick up and down while releasing tension to try to get under that pin. Here comes the sad ( ) part: I guess me picking it with my normal tools broke the spring, because I when I shake the lock, and turn it upside down, I hear a pin falling. Also, when i pick the lock, I release tension slowly, and sometimes I only hear 3 pins falling instead of 4, and when i shake the lock it rattles (such a bummer )

Anyway, I can still pick it, and i know 2 spools are there on the second and last (might be third, I'm not sure). Something weird sometimes happens however: I insert my pick to the third pin and apply tension, without any tension whatsoever, and then I turn the tension wrench and the lock opens. This is really weird because I'm not applying any tension.

So, what are you guy's thoughts?

I don't think i can be setting pins, because there is no tension being applied (the tension wrench is in, but no tension).

Think about the possibilities. I mean you can either be:

A. Setting the shear line accidentally

Thats true. Hey, i have a question. If i move the lock (not picked) upside down (90 degrees) and here a short click, and then turn it another 90 degrees, and here another click, is that a sure sign that the lock has a broken spring?

I saw your post were you said that you just got the lock.

No, I dont think you broke it. Some of the locks components may just be lose. Theres got to be some wiggle room so the parts in a lock still work or function correctly. The cores in these masterlocks are notorious for being lose bro. I don't think you should worry much. if the key still operates the lock perfectly, then the lock is good. . I just did the same to all my masterlocks (I have lots of them), and I can tell you that yours isn't the only one that does that.
