Stiff No 1 Master Padlock

Postby austinpicker » 26 Mar 2014 4:02

I have an old Master #1 padlock and it spent a few years outside in the rain, etc. I'm using it to practice and I can pick it but it is REALLY stiff. To lock it back I have to turn the key (which is pretty hard) and press down on the shackle really hard. I'm just wondering if a shot of WD-40 in the key way would help? Or would the lubricant make the pins hard to set?

Some type of lube would certainly be of help.
Get it in there and work the moveable parts around until they get easier to move about.
Flush out any debri until it rinses out clean, then find some new ones to practice on.
Good luck and keep on pickin.
